This Course provides a practical overview of how to calculate and manage water use in landscapes. Learn the fundamentals of plant water requirements, evapotranspiration, and hydrozoning, then explore tools such as the Maximum Applied Water Allowance (MAWA) and the Estimated Total Water Use (ETWU). Participants will practice calculating water budgets, factoring in effective precipitation, and identifying strategies to minimize water use while maintaining healthy landscapes.

Resilient Alternatives to Non-Functional Commercial Turf
As water conservation becomes a greater issue across the country, states and water providers are looking to reduce or eliminate the use of potable water on commercial non-functional turf. Unfortunately, historical solutions to such a demand usually result in expensive, unsightly and/or environmentally detrimental consequences.
However, there are other options. Join G3 expert Pamela Berstler, as she discusses resilient options to replacing the turf, including the radical idea of keeping the existing lawn in place and creating a “Polyculture” green functional space.
